Marc SapP

Sapp’s current drawing-focused work is significantly
influenced by artists Lowell Tolstedt (b.1939), Jim Dine
(b.1935), Ann Hamilton (b.1956), and Barbara Turner Smith
(b.1931). In an ongoing, elusive pursuit of drawing proficiency,
he strives to achieve the effect of sharp focus versus
ambiguity. Finding beauty through the meticulous study of
detail, dexterity and craft. While striving for his work to be
about ideas beyond skill.

Since receiving his BFA from Columbus College of Art
and Design in 1987, Sapp has enjoyed a long and fulfilling
vocation in graphic design and advertising. Helping to build
global brands for clients like AstraZeneca, Bausch & Lomb,
Eli Lilly, Nestle, Neutrogena and Pfizer. While devotion to
drawing has been ongoing since childhood, he now turns
full attention to his personal (non-commercial) art.
Sapp lives and works in Delaware, Ohio with his artist wife,
Karen Maginnis Sapp.
